Building Holistic Education & Employment Pathways (BHEEP)

BHEEP (Building Holistic Educational & Employment Pathways) is a project led by Boston Plan for Excellence (BPE), Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative (DSNI) & Project Hope. The goal of BHEEP is to be able to implement STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts & Mathematics) in the Dudley Village. The goal is to make it accessible to those living in the neighborhood. Implementing something like this in the neighborhood will give people access to a better education, leading to better jobs and higher wages. While we have reached major milestones in these communities, with the development of a K-12 pipeline and the physical $7 million dollar redesign of the Dearborn School, residents of North Dorchester and Roxbury face an intersection of challenges including a poverty rate of 34%, an unemployment rate of 14% (compared to 4.3% in the City of Boston-according to the Imagine Boston 2030 Report) and a low high-school graduation rate.

BHEEP is built on a three-prong strategy for its implementation in the neighborhood: To give students access to STEAM in schools to set them up for success, to build a neighborhood STEAM literacy campaign to engage residents, local businesses, community partners and others and to provide workforce development and training opportunities for adult residents that are rooted in partnerships with STEAM employers and lead to high-quality jobs and family-sustaining wages.

As part of this process, we would like to get input from the community, so please take a moment to fill out the forms below, if you are a student or a parent/guardian.
